Maybe you don't like the size of the full Windsor knot. Or maybe you're just afraid that James Bond will see you and think you're a cad. Either way, if you're looking for a knot that's nice and symmetrical but not quite as bulky, the half Windsor is for you. It's got all the good looks of its bigger brother, but fits more easily with a trim suit and smaller collar. In other words: an unimpeachably stylish go-to knot.

If you're still a little fuzzy on the ins and outs of the half Windsor, don't worry. We'll break it down for you. With GIFs!

Step 1: Start like you would when tying any knot, with the wide end hanging lower on the right side of your body. Cross the wide end over the thin one, then loop it back underneath.

Step 2: Pass the wide end up and over to make a knot.

Step 3: Pass the wide end over the front of the knot, and then loop it from underneath.
