Back 4 Blood has an amazing cast of characters you can all control eventually. Only four of them will be available at the beginning of the game. Luckily, unlocking the characters in the game is free and easy. All you need to do is proceed with the story, and all eight characters will be prepared to use for you.

Like in Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood comes with a cast of characters that you can use to mow the zombie hoards down. However, what’s different is that each character has a different starting weapon and unique cards. As such, unlocking these characters is important to experience the game at its best.

Unlocking The Cleaners

The characters in Back 4 Blood are called The Cleaners. The four starting characters are Evangelo, Walker, Holly, and Mom. They’re all good on their own, but trying out the rest of The Cleaners would be fun, given that they also have unique cards. Unlocking the rest of the characters happens early on in the game.

After finishing The Devil’s Return during the first act in Back 4 Blood, you’ll come face to face with the rest of the cleaners, Doc, Hoffman, Karlee, and Jim. To unlock the rest of them, all you need to do is to complete the level, and that’s it. However, there are a few things you need to be mindful of when trying to unlock the characters.

While playing the first act of Back 4 Blood, you’ll be given a choice to play the game solo. However, the game will not tell you that playing solo will disable in-game achievements called Accomplishments. You can only unlock the rest of The Cleaners if you can unlock the Paid the Toll accomplishment, which happens once you beat The Devil’s Return.

All you need to do to unlock the characters is complete the first act with some other players. If you’ve passed by the level already, you can simply redo the mission, watch the cutscene, and Doc and the gang will be a part of your roster.

It seems like Turtle Rock Studios plans to release more characters and acts. Hopefully, we get more fun and exciting characters to play with soon.
