In this tutorial you will learn how to quickly and easily unstack your artwork in Procreate. Stacking your artwork by a project in Procreate is great for keeping things looking tidy. But what if you want to move some or all of your artwork out of a stack? We will show you exactly how you can do just that.
Please note: we are using the latest version of Procreate 5X. If you do not see a feature mentioned below, make sure your Procreate is up-to-date.
Step 1 - Open your stack
The only way you can get artwork out from a stack is by opening the stack first. Once you have Procreate open, simply tap on a stack you have created to open it and view the artwork inside.

Step 2 - Select artwork to move
With your stack open start selecting the artwork you want to move out of the stack. There are 2 ways you can select artwork. One is a select method and the other using a gesture selection.
Select Method:
The first is to tap on the wording “Select” on the top right, and then select the artwork. You will see checkboxes with a tick on the artwork that you have selected.

Gesture Select Method:
To select artwork you need to press and hold down on one artwork. You will see it lifts up towards your finger. Still pressing down you can use your other hand to tap on artwork and they will automatically select and “pull up” as well (see image). You will see a number counter for the amount of artwork you have selected.

Step 3 - Move artwork out of stack
As the final step, you will move the selected artwork out of the stack. Depending on how you selected the artwork you will go about this a little differently.
Select Method:
For selected individual artwork, you will need to hold your finger or Apple pencil down on the artwork to move all the selected artwork together. Tap on the (< Stack name) at the top left to go out of your stack. Do not lift your finger keep holding it down. Once you are out of your stack simply drop your artwork.

Gesture Select Method:
Still holding down with your selected artwork, simply tap on the (< Stack name) at the top left to go out of your stack. Do not lift your finger keep holding it down. Once you are out of your stack simply drop your artwork.
