On a kitchen counter, next to an Echo Dot, a coffee maker is plugged into a Smart Plug.How to use an Amazon Smart PlugAmazon Smart Plug lets you use your voice to control lights, fans, coffee makers, and more. Schedule lights, fans, and appliances to turn on and off automatically, or control them remotely when you’re away. All you need is an Alexa-enabled device.Follow the steps below:
  1. Plug in Amazon Smart Plug and open the Alexa app. If your Alexa app says “new plug found,” go straight to Step 4.
  2. Tap the Devices icon in the lower right corner of the Alexa app, then click the Plus icon to get started.
  3. Select Add Device and then select the Plug.
  4. Plug your lamp, coffee maker, or other appliance into the plug.
  5. To enable, just say, “Alexa, turn on First Plug.”
