How To Use Throat Spray | Ultra Chloraseptic

Home > Why Choose A Numbing Throat Spray? Why choose a numbing throat spray?

Our numbing throat sprays are designed to deliver sore throat relief. Ultra Chloraseptic contains a local anaesthetic called benzocaine. When sprayed on the back of the throat (where it feels scratchy, painful or uncomfortable to swallow) it provides a numbing effect in seconds. This can ease painful sore throats, allowing you to get on with your day as normal.

Viruses such as colds and flu can cause sore throats. One of the advantages of using an anaesthetic throat spray is that it targets this specific area, providing pain relief where it’s needed – and fast. Our gentle anaesthetic numbing spray for throats provides targeted relief within seconds. The swivel head applicator helps ensure precision when applying.

Points to Remember

Ultra Chloraseptic is easy to use, but you should still bear the following in mind:

  • Avoid eating and drinking while your throat still feels numb.
  • If you have been using your throat spray for three days in a row and you still have a sore throat, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Remember that throat spray is designed to relieve the pain of a sore throat, not to treat the cause of it.
  • Avoid using Ultra Chloraseptic if you have breathing difficulties, severe trouble swallowing, or if you have an allergy to local anaesthetics such as benzocaine. It is also not suitable for use if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or have a rare blood condition called methemoglobinemia.
  • Children (aged 6-12) should be supervised at all times when using throat sprays. They aren’t suitable for use for children under six years old.
  • If you accidentally spray in or around your eyes, rinse immediately with cool water.
Frequently Asked Questions

One dose of product is 3 sprays for adults and teenagers or 1 spray for children 6 to 12 years. You can take one dose of the product every 2 – 3 hours up to the maximum of 8 doses per day. Do not use for more than 3 days.

The duration of a sore throat is dependent on the cause and severity. For example, a sore throat caused by something you’ve consumed that’s come into contact with your throat or a minor virus could clear up within three to 10 days, whereas a more serious problem such as an allergic reaction or bacterial infection could last significantly longer and may require treatment.

You may at first be a little sceptical about using a throat spray or not be convinced that it will ease your sore throat. However, our sprays contain a small amount of local anaesthetic that doesn’t just soothe the area, but numbs the pain altogether, so you can’t feel it anymore. It is important to note that while a throat spray temporarily relieves the pain, there are other measures that you can take to soothe your sore throat. You should make sure that you’re drinking plenty of water, as dehydration could make your throat dry and more painful.
