How to Use Hair Toner after Bleaching

Dry your hair so it's slightly damp to help the toner distribute evenly. Pick T15, T11, T27, or T35 for dark hair, or go with T10, T18, T14, or T28 if you want platinum or ash blonde. Mix the toner and developer, apply it to your hair, and rinse it out after 20 minutes.

Toner works best if you’ve already bleached your hair, because it will lighten or darken strands that are already around the shade you want. After bleaching, rinse your hair with water. If you’re toning immediately afterwards, don’t condition just yet.[5]
    • Although many people choose to tone right after bleaching, you may need a few days to buy your toner or to decide if you want to use one at all. Don’t worry! You can tone your hair at any point after bleaching it.

    • Try using dry shampoo if you need to wash your hair more often. You can also rinse your hair with water and apply some conditioner, which won’t strip the color.
