How to Wash Stuffed Animals
Recommended 0 TimesRecommend ThisYour child's stuffed animals go through a lot in their lifetime—they're dragged around, hugged, squeezed, cried, sneezed, and coughed on. That's a lot for the fuzzy little guys to go through. But you can help to liven them back up and keep them healthy for your child by following some simple steps.
What You'll Need:
Washing Machine Laundry Detergent Pillow Cases Color-safe Bleach
Instructions:
Place the stuffed animals you'd like to clean in a pillowcase. You can put two or three small ones in together, but keep larger ones to one per case.
Set your washing machine to the gentle cycle and start filling it with water. Be sure you have the load size set large enough for the number of stuffed animals you plan to wash at a time. Be careful not to overstuff your machine. You can always do multiple loads. Add your detergent and color-safe bleach according to bottle directions. Carefully place the pillowcases containing the stuffed animals in the machine. Make sure you are placing them in properly so they won't get caught up in the spinner. After the wash cycle is done, run them through one more rinse cycle. Remove the pillowcases from the washer and place them in the dryer. Some of the cases may have opened during the wash. If so, just place the cases and stuffed animals in the dryer separately. Run the dryer on a gentle setting if it's available on your machine. You may have to run it twice to allow adequate drying. Remove the stuffed animals from the pillowcases when the dryer is done. Place them somewhere they can finish drying without being disturbed, such as a shelf, countertop, or your child's bed. Once they're fully dried, fluff the fur with your hands or a brush.Cleaning your child's stuffed animals can be as simple as doing a load of laundry or two. Wash them on a regular basis to keep them clean and sanitized.
