If you're wondering how to watch the 2025 Met Gala red carpet without having to stand behind crowds of people in the New York City streets, then I've got you covered. I've compiled a foolproof guide to the major event. That way, you won't waste time scrolling through Twitter to try and see who wore the wildest outfits this year (and in case you were unaware, the theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”)

Per usual, the fundraiser will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the Met's Costume Institute will unveil its annual fashion exhibit. All of the attendees (who paid around $50k for their tickets) will walk the Met Gala steps and show off their show-stopping outfits.

1. How to Watch the Met Gala Red Carpet

The 2025 Met Gala will be available to stream on Vogue's website and social media accounts, including YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Instagram. The Vogue team also shares their commentary on the best red carpet looks, which fans can access on their blog.

Per usual, E! Live from the Red Carpet will also stream the event. Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham will host the red carpet coverage and Vogue special correspondent Emma Chamberlain will conduct interviews on the red carpet.

2. What Time Does the Met Gala Start?

The 2025 Met Gala will take place on Monday, May 5, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where the Costume Institute's spring exhibition will run from May 10 to October 26. While the Met has yet to confirm the official start time for this year's event, red carpet arrivals usually begin around 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT.

3. What Is This Year's Theme?

The theme for this year’s Met Gala is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, and the dress code is “Tailored for You,” which is a reference to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and tailored suits. It will feature 12 sections that represent a characteristic that defines this style, including Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool and Cosmopolitanism. Per the official press release, "these characteristics demonstrate how the figure is defined and self-fashions and how their style raises notions of assimilation, distinction, and resistance—all while telling a story about self and society inflected by race, gender, class, and sexuality."

The theme is inspired by Guest Curator Monica L. Miller's book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. She said, "The exhibition title refers to ‘superfine’ not only as the quality of a particular fabric—'superfine wool’—but also as a particular attitude related to feeling especially good in one’s own body, in clothes that express the self. Wearing superfine and being superfine are, in many ways, the subject of this exhibition. And the separateness, distinction, and movement between these two states of ‘being’ in the African diaspora from the 1780s to today animates the show."

Host Committee member Usher also commented: “I’m honored to be part of such a long-standing tradition with The Met. The theme this year is not only timely but also speaks to our rich culture that should always be widely celebrated.”

4. Who Are This Year's Hosts?

The 2025 Met Gala will have a star-studded line-up of co-hosts, including Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour and honorary chair LeBron James.

Additonally, The Met is reviving its longtime tradition of having a Host Committee to support the evening’s festivities. Notable members include André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens, Grace Wales Bonner, Jordan Casteel, Ayo Edebiri, Usher, Regina King, Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, Audra McDonald, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Pope, Angel Reese and Sha'Carri Richardson.

5. What Celebs Will Attend the Event?

The guest list is typically kept under wraps until the day before the event, but besides the A-list roster of co-chairs, I can likely expect last year’s attendees—including Serena Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore and Ariana Grande—to make a reappearance.

The event usually includes about 600 guests, from designers and musicians to Hollywood stars. Fingers crossed that Rihanna will bring her iconic fashion to the fundraiser.

6. What Was the Theme of Last Year's Met Gala?

The theme for last year’s Met Gala was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and the dress code was “The Garden of Time.” The exhibit included 250 items spanning four centuries of fashion history, featuring designs by Schiaparelli, Dior and Givenchy.

According to the official website, the pieces were "visually united by iconography related to nature" and served as "a metaphor for the fragility and ephemerality of fashion and a vehicle to examine the cyclical themes of rebirth and renewal."
