How to Watch YES Online Without Cable

Yankees fans across the country can’t get enough of YES, but the network isn’t limited to New York sports. In addition to New York teams’ MLB, NBA, and MLS games, the channel broadcasts Manchester City’s English Premier League games, AC Milan games, ACC men’s and women’s basketball, and more. Fans come for the big games and pre- and post-game shows, but the channel also specializes in programs that take you behind the scenes of your favorite teams, like “Yankees Hot Stove,” “Homegrown,” and “Forbes SportsMoney.”

YES has its own direct-to-streaming partner service, which has limited availability in YES’ cable coverage area. If you live outside of YES’ coverage zone, skinny bundle streaming services come to the rescue for fans outside of New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and select national areas. If you live in other states, you can turn to DIRECTV or fuboTV for your coverage. Skinny bundles allow you to select live TV channels to add to your package and charge you based on your selected content.

Here is the full list of services that allow you access:

  • DIRECTV
  • fuboTV
  • YES Streaming App

Because of coverage rights attached to the broadcast of MLB games, fans can find it hard to know what network or streamer is showing the game in their region that week. If you’re looking for sports coverage not available on YES, check out MLB.TV. MLB.TV is an important service to keep in mind for Yankees fans, but it doesn’t provide unlimited access to every MLB game due to coverage blackouts. If a game is on TV in your area, whether it’s on ESPN or a local regional sports network like YES Network, then it will be blacked out on MLB.TV. Still, it’s a great way to stream the Yankees if you live outside the New York area.

One way to avoid blackouts is to use a VPN to change your computer’s IP to a different location.

Can I Watch YES on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chromecast?

What’s better than watching your favorite sports at home? Watching them on the go with streaming devices such as Roku, Fire TV Stick, or Apple TV. By connecting DIRECTV or fuboTV, you can get YES coverage on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, iOS/Android, and your web browser.

More to Love for YES Fans

YES Network isn’t the only sports channel you can watch without a cable subscription. Sports fans don’t have to miss any of their favorite content. We recommend catching up on the NFL, NBA, MLB, and more. Check out the NFL Draft and the French Open. We’ve covered the Super Bowl and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games — two major sporting events you don’t want to miss. You can also check out our guides to how to watch sports without cable.

  1. I need to know, if there is a TV antenna that has to be used inside the apartment. The management does not allow antennas on the outside of the property. We have tried all inside ones and always the same problem, you have to be repositioning the “antenna” for almost every channel you change to. I will really appreciate, if you know of an antenna that will work.

  3. I have Hughes satellite internet. Their steaming ability is very limited, even with the new gen 5. I live in an area where cable internet is not possible. Is there any other option for me to get stations like YES?

  4. According to the above story, YES is available on Hulu and Sling (as well as others) but I just checked their advertised lineups and that does not seem to be true. YouTubeTV looks to be the best deal for those of us who want YES.

    3. DirectTV DOES have the YES network. You just need to be sure you have upgraded to their premium service. I switch mine up to the premium plan during baseball season, and knock it back down to standard plan during the off-season. Hope this helps.

  6. Food for thought about baseball and broadcast TV: If public money was used to build a stadium (that is, for example, Yankee Stadium), does it make sense that a percentage of games should be broadcast on a local TV station? Should the number of games broadcast locally be proportional to the percent of dollars from the public coffers to the total cost of the stadium? I throw these thoughts out there as baseball has gotten too greedy. Also, I wonder what is the outside interference in baseball availability (from external investors and/or corporations, like Sinclair Broadcasting). Love to hear what CordCutters thinks, as well as regular readers.

  8. Quite frankly, I don’t know why there is such a big fuss about these streaming services. Yes they are cheaper but having tried You Tube tv and Hulu live, I have to say the picture is not as good as the picture I get from DirecTv. Until the picture quality improves I don’t see these as a viable alternative.
