How To Write Fractions In Google Docs

As you are working in Google Docs there may be times where you need to put fractions into your document.

If you’re a beginner, or if you’ve never done this before, you may be wondering how this is done.

Luckily there are a few easy ways to do this.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to write fractions in Google Docs.

Writing Fractions In Google Docs

If you’re just trying to put a basic fraction into your document, Google Docs will automatically convert a number to a fraction when you place a diagonal line between your numerator and denominator.

Here are the steps to do this:

1. Open your Google Doc and click wherever you want to place the fraction

2. Type the first number (numerator) of your fraction

3. Type a diagonal line (fraction symbol)

4. Type your second number (denominator)

5. Press Enter on your keyboard and the number you entered will automatically convert to a fraction

Creating Fractions Using Special Characters

Another way of adding fractions to Google Docs is by inserting special characters.

Here is how this is done:

1. Select in your Google Doc where you want the fraction to show up

2. In the top menu select Insert

3. From the drop-down menu select Special characters

4. Under the Insert special characters settings, set it to Number and Fractions/Related. From here you will find a list of fractions and you can select from the list to get a fraction into your doc

There are even more ways to create fractions in Google Docs than I have covered in this post, however, the methods that I have shown are probably the easiest.

Typing in the numbers and separating them with a diagonal line is the easiest method, and it gives you greater control over the exact fraction.

However, if you just want to choose from a list of fractions, using the insert character method is a good option.
