McHenry and Kane Counties, 45 miles NW of the Loop. Platted beside the Galena & Chicago Union Railroad in 1851 by Thomas Huntley and incorporated in 1872, Huntley remained an agricultural village until the 1980s. Suburban sprawl and Sun City, a massive senior residential area on the village's south side, caused the population to grow from 2,453 in 1990 to 5,730 by 2000.
