France, French Hi, I'm just trying to understand what "hip" means here : At a studio recording session, the guitars players are tuning and then trying to fugure what to play, which make the session quitte messy. The drums player comments : "They really hard to play with." Then the narrator (a friend of them) answers "I'm hip". Any explanation ??? Thanks for your helpSouxie

I hate my English teacher, he thinks he's so hip..." "Why are you doing that?!" "Cause I'm really hip, and all that..." Oh, et on ne dit pas "drums player", c'est "drummer"elmingo

France, French Ok, thanks. But I still don't understand why the narrator would say "I'm hip" in this context...Omelette

Boston, MA, USA English-American "I'm hip" can also mean: I get it; I get you; I understand (as in "I'm hip to what's going on"). So the narrator might be saying to the drummer, "I'm hip," meaning something like "I'm seeing the same thing you're seeing; I understand exactly what you're saying." Eelmingo
