So i delved into greenhouses yesterday, never used them before, or the beetle for fertilizer, set up the green house and looks great, got my bug, fed it some poop, and within a short time i got some fertilizer, i though great, but oh crap, i best set up a feeding trough so it doesn't starve to death, popped some meat in.....done. but little did i know... I spent hours upon hours wondering why my beetle suddenly stopped producing fertilizer, even got another one to see if it was a bug, spent ages reading online trying to figure out my problem, i was beginning to think it was a bug with the game, I literally have just woken up with the answer staring at me, the bloody feeding trough is stopping the beetle eating the poop !!! Sometimes the answers right there in front of you lol Edit: So i removed the trough, but they are still no producing fertilizer, i have them both on wonder, and poo in both of them

Uh.......is your beetle on wander? Beetles have to be on wander, my three are set up directly under the trough in their prison cells, they still produce no.matter what is or is not in the trough...so, are you enabling wander. Without wander they will not produce....

Yes, both are on wonder, ive got rid of the trough and its still not working, not sure why, i have 2 beetles, both with 3 small poos in them, but after a few hours ive no fertilizer, so no idea why they arnt producing

Ok you have enabling wander on. But did you over weight them with poop. The beetles have a low carry weight and if you put to much poop on them they can not wonder. and keep in mind that even if it less then there carry weight just like are characters you get slowed down the more you have on you. they are the same, But for them one or two poop if there large can stop them cold. Oh And if I remember right they only use medium or larger poop's not the small ones. So put levels for them in to carry weight.
I have type poop more time in this short post then I have ever before. LoL

1. Any poop will do it varies the amount of oil and fert from each size.
2. Dosent matter if you fill em up they still make fert.
Have you stopped them wondering and started them again? Sometimes our just dont produce so we take them off wonder and rester it and they work again. Are you putting the poop in their inventory and not expecting them to collect it themselves. Medium poop will give you 2 fert and 12 oil i seem to remember.

Ive had them on wonder for the past 6 hours and nothing in their but poop, ive had them on wonder the whole time, ive a level 132 with 1 small poop and nothing from it in 6 hours, definitely something a miss here Only thing i can think off, is the greenhouse isnt close to my base, but its only a 30 second fast sprint away, could it be that they are too far away from me ? Other than that ive no idea whats wrong How long should it take for them to convert 1 piece of small poop ? im tempted to go near one and go afk for a while and see if thats helps, I am playing on the XB1 and i know that things dont load in unless you go to them, so wondering if they kinda unload when your not near them

Distance should not be a factor, nor the presence of a trough (mine is right next to a trough and it's always produced fertilizer for me). The only thing I could think to ask is if you have taken the beetle off of wandering and then back on? If memory serves right beetles have a tendency to stop producing things when they're wandering and an update hits, and would need to have wandering reset.

Ive only had them since yesterday, the first one produced once, i took the fertilizer out and reloaded with poop, but thats being it, ive toggled the wonder off/on and still nothing, ive certainly got wonder on and poop inside them, Would the space they have to wonder effect them, they are in a closed room 3x5 ?

Try putting a phiomia in the room with them, that may help. I'm not sure, but when ever I have Dung Beetles i have a phiomia in the enclosure as well and they always produce...

Doesnt effect them. I have them on wondering in 1x1 'cells' with a door on one side and corridor running down the middle to have an easy access.
The compound is 3x5 with another layer out side of it to act as a security measure incase of escapees, bringing it to a total of 5x7.

I think this is a minor bug. I remember reading someone had a sort of workaround. When you find the dung beetles not producing follow this quick guide (its worked for me every time):
Stop them from wondering, then remove everything from their inventory. pick each up and throw it down. Place feces back into their inventory and reset to wander.

This. I play sp too, and it happens A LOT.
Btw, I'm pretty sure they have to be in range of a trough with meat, or they'll starve, even if you keep them loaded with poop. I think the wiki says that. And they still make fertilizer if their weight is totally full of poop, unless they've changed that.

No, I didn't read any where that you were on SE. Otherwise I do it on the other 2.
I just use phiomia because it poops a lot more then other animals, but if you put a few other animals near the enclosure. Feed them stimberries every now and then to make them poop extra. So long as you have enough dino's it will have the same effect.

Woodsplatypus56 is giving the best advice. It is a known bug that the beetles will not always work. I will sometimes just take mine off wander and just put them in my house when I go offline and the pick them up and stick them back outside when I go back online again. I have not had the problem for awhile since I have been doing this. It has something to do with the servers restarting? Not sure of the technicalities but try what Woodsplatypus said and let us know if that works.

I think this is only for the shoulder creatures, not dung beetles.

Try removing ALL the items in the inventories, leave the area and come back to refresh, and replace the poop inside.

You are not an idiot btw, ark can be tricky but it's worth figuring out how to work around some of it's little issues like this. I'm sure this is one of the things that will be fixed before release, and even if it's not I'll still play.
