  Last week I had the opportunity to attend IIAG YAC, and what an outstanding event it was. Imperial PFS was proud to be a Diamond Sponsor, which included the chance to give away a little money — and it’s always a great day when you can help bring a smile to someone’s face. Huge credit to IIAG - Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia, Ragan Blankenship and Noah Daniel, CIC for delivering such a well-executed event. From Emotional Intelligence to AI, the sessions were timely and insightful. I had heard great things about David R. Carothers, CIC, CRM, CWCA, and I was grateful to hear him speak on Killing Commercial. He’s a dynamic storyteller who has a unique ability to translate experience into actionable insight. The Carriers on the Market Ahead and Legends of Insurance panels were equally engaging. But my favorite session was “Staying Curious: How Organizations and Individuals Create Competitive Advantage through Curiosity.” Steve Nedvidek, former Innovation Specialist at Chick-fil-A, did an excellent job breaking down different archetypes and showing how, regardless of how we’re wired, we can take incremental steps to strengthen our curiosity and uncover insights others may miss. It was the first time I saw part of how I think reflected so clearly in someone else’s framework. It was a powerful and validating moment — a reminder that approaching challenges differently can be a strength. Grateful for the conversations, the learning, and the opportunity to continue growing alongside so many talented professionals in our industry.

  This is my third IIAH - Independent Insurance Agents of Houston Salute to Exhibitors reception. I remember I was barely 3 months into this new gig at Imperial PFS and didn't really know anyone except Josh LaRiccia. Walking around trying to pick up people's badges off of their chest (names and company are kinda small on these badges) forcing me to get uncomfortable and close enough to people to say hello and shake their hand to ask their name and who they worked for. Fast forward to me walking into the room yesterday evening and felt like at every turn someone was coming up and saying hello to ME, before I even had the chance to go up to them. So cool to see how relationships have grown. Conversations have changed. And me being referenced as the "LinkedIn Guy" 😂. I will gladly accept that title. Thank you to my friends in the industry. Whether we are competition, work together or will never work together but can connect each other.
