Blocking is a move used to prevent incoming damage in Injustice 2. It’s a useful trick that lets you change the dynamic of the match, interrupt combos before the opponent even starts chaining attacks, and more. In other words, it’s a technique you’ll have to learn, if you plan on playing the game at all. The best way to do that is by completing the training or tutorial included in the game. How to block

There’s no dedicated block button in Injustice 2. This may confuse people coming from other fighting games. The way you block is by pushing the movement stick back, that is, pushing the stick in the direction opposite the one you’re facing at the moment. This won’t trigger a block animation unless there’s something to block, but don’t worry. If you push the stick at the right moment, you’ll block the incoming attack.

This kind of block stops overhead, high and mid attacks. There’s another kind of block to supplement it. To get protection from low attacks, you’ll need to crouch. Simply push the movement stick down, and you’ll crouch, automatically entering a block. This variety stops low and mid attacks, while leaving you open to high and overhead ones.

In order to improve your blocking, you’ll have to learn to read your opponents. This skill comes with time, but practicing with an AI can help, too. Once you’ve learned how the animations for each kind of attack start, you’ll have no trouble deciding which kind of block you want to use.
