Inscryption: How To Unlock (& Play) Kaycee's Mod - Screen Rant

The name of Kaycee's Mod in Inscryption is a little misleading, as it is not a mod but rather an update to the game, which adds more content in the form of an expansion. It is named so due to events in the story of Inscryption. In addition, Kaycee's Mod for Inscryption includes a roguelike mode that many fans have requested for quite some time. Now with this new update, players finally get their wish. Best of all, Kaycee's Mod is free.

Players may recognize the name, Kaycee. That name shows up several times during the main story of Inscryption. Now, players can learn more about Kaycee through this new game mode. Each time they win a game in this mode, players will learn more about the story and more about Kaycee. Additional decks are unlocked for each win, alongside more restrictions, making the game more challenging. A similar mechanic appears in other games like Hades with the Pact of Punishment.

When the story mode of Inscryption first begins, players, find themselves within a dark, creepy cabin playing a card game with a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows. It's clear that their goal is to escape the cabin, but it might take players several tries. Once they do so, the game changes quite a bit, but the first act is still the favorite of many players for its aesthetic. Kaycee's Mod changes act 1 of the game into a proper roguelike mode for players looking for an additional challenge.

Playing Kaycee's Mod in Inscryption

The main and only way to unlock Kaycee's Mod is to play through and beat the story mode of Inscryption. It isn't too much of a time commitment, as the game takes somewhere around 15 hours to beat. This time will vary depending on the player and how much of a completionist they are. Kaycee's Mod adds more time and replay value to the game. Thanks to Kaycee's Mod, players can now easily spend over 100 hours in Inscryption.

However, there is another way to unlock Kaycee's Mod. On the start menu screen, players can press Shift+K+M to unlock it. This is recommended for players who have previously beaten Inscryption or at least watched someone else play through the story. New players who have never experienced Inscryption before should do that first. Inscryption really is just that: an experience. It was Screen Rant's 2021 Game of the Year.
