Inspection

Vehicles have to go for regular inspections to make sure they remain roadworthy.

At a glance

Understanding Periodic Vehicle Inspection

The frequency of periodic inspections depends on the type and age of your vehicle.

Getting your vehicle inspected

See the list of items checked at a regular inspection.

You can send your vehicle for inspection at any LTA-Authorised Inspection Centre (AIC).

If your vehicle is due for inspection, you do not need to wait for LTA’s inspection notice to bring your vehicle for inspection.

If your vehicle is found to have illegal modifications, it will be more frequently inspected under the Enhanced Inspection Regime (EIR).

To get your In-vehicle Unit (IU) inspected, visit an Authorised IU Service Centre.

Understanding Periodic Vehicle Inspection

The periodic vehicle inspection regime ensures that vehicle owners maintain their vehicles regularly to meet roadworthiness and emission standards, thus minimising vehicular breakdowns and road accidents. The frequency of inspection depends on the type and age of your vehicle.

When your vehicle is due for inspection, you will receive an inspection notice from LTA within 3 months before your vehicle’s inspection due date. If your vehicle is due for inspection, you need not produce the LTA’s inspection notice to have it inspected.

If your vehicle has been inspected early, i.e., more than 3 months before its inspection due date, the inspection result will not be valid for road tax renewal. Should there be exceptional circumstances that require you to present your vehicle for an early inspection, please contact LTA.
