Having an Instacart account is absolutely free! There's no charge for keeping an account open. We add new stores, features, and exclusive deals as we grow.

Account deletion

Please note that deleting your account is permanent and you can’t use it once deleted. You’ll need to create a new account if you want to use Instacart again.

Before requesting to delete your account, please:

  • Wait until any active orders have been delivered/picked up.
  • Cancel your Instacart+ membership, if you have one.

If you’re sure you want to delete your account, you can submit a request in the Instacart app—

  1. Tap the Account icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Personal information.
  4. Tap Delete account.

Look for an email from OneTrust with further instructions. Check your spam folder if it’s not in your inbox.

Once you get the email, select Confirm in the email. Please do so within 7 days or you’ll have to submit another request to delete your account.

You can also submit an account deletion request via the web here. You’ll need to log in to your Instacart account.

Account deactivation

When you deactivate your account, you stop receiving notifications and promotional emails. You can still place orders.

Account deactivation occurs 1 of 2 ways—

  1. You contact Customer Experience to ask for account deactivation.
  2. Instacart deactivates it due to potential fraud or other risks.

What to expect if Instacart deactivates your account—

  • Look for an email from our Financial Risk and Account Security team. Reply to that email with any requested information. 
  • You can appeal the deactivation once you submit the requested information.
  • For approved appeals: your account reactivates and, if applicable, refund requests can process. 
  • For denied appeals: your account stays deactivated and refund requests are denied.
