International Coffee Day International Coffee Day, sometimes referred to simply as Coffee Day, is an unofficial annual holiday observed in some countries on September 29. It celebrates one of the world's most popular beverages and promotes fair trade coffee.

The exact origin of the holiday is unknown. According to the most popular version, the first celebration was held by the All Japan Coffee Association on October 1, 1983. The holidays quickly spread throughout the world. Besides, some countries also observe their own National Coffee Days on various dates.

The main goals of International Coffee Day are to promote the spread of the coffee culture and raise awareness of the challenges coffee growers and manufacturers have to face. On this day, many coffee shops offer discounted or free cups of coffee. Some businesses carry out social networking campaigns, offering special deals and coupons to their most loyal followers.
