Inuyasha: Ten Things You Need To Know Before Bingeing The Series

If you know anything about the time period Inuyasha came out in, though, then you may be worried about just how well the anime follows the events of its source material. There are some things that you need to know before bingeing this series on Netflix, though, while it is an excellent watch, be prepared for some differences and long periods of binge-watching.

10 The Show Has More Romance

There are a lot of things on which manga fans will immediately hone in. The first is probably that there is a lot more romance between the characters in the anime. Sadly, the manga never showed Inuyasha and Kagome actually kissing, which is a bit of a letdown for the long-time fans.

The anime actually shows this towards the end, and it's a well-deserved treat.

9 The Music is Great

Even today, Inuyasha is praised for having one of the best soundtracks in anime. Every opening and ending theme can be found in playlists ranking the top anime songs all across the internet.

The instrumental parts of the show, especially during battles, have also been praised for the powerful mood they set. If you love music, then you will enjoy watching the show.

8 There is Some Filler

Like a lot of anime shows, there is some filler in the show, but it's actually pretty good. The filler doesn't take away from the show or go on for seasons at a time like other anime. Most of it will take place in the present-day or have the character find a new demon to take on. It doesn't feel out of place at all and only adds to the story.

If you want to skip the filler, though, then it's easy to find episode guides online.

7 Chapters Are Expanded Upon

Since an anime can pack in more information in an episode, then the manga can in a chapter, many are expanded upon. This made some chapters go on for multiple episodes and fleshed out the villains even more.

Most fans enjoyed seeing more detail put into there favorite moments. This also helps to create some pretty awesome fights.

6 It Doesn't Exactly Follow The Manga

Other than filler and expanding chapters, the anime doesn't always follow the manga. There are a few changes, such as Ayame's backstory about meeting Koga, but nothing that harshly reroutes the story. In addition, some characters are also given more screen time or dialogue than in the manga.

The core story remains mostly untouched despite these changes.

5 There is More Timetraveling

One of the things you will notice, as mentioned in the filler section, is that you see more of the present. Kagome doesn't travel back and forth that much, in the manga or the anime.

It does occur a bit more often in the show, and you get to see Inuyasha have to interact with the modern world. This adds a ton of humor to the show and is enjoyable to watch.

4 It Has A lot of Action

The show isn't just centered around romance or looking for the jewel; there are also a ton of fight scenes. Almost all of the fights in the show are packed with action and well done. The fights between Naraku will keep you on the edge of your seat, and Sesshomaru's simply cutting up enemies is a delight to watch.

Even characters like Shippo have some well put together action scenes.

3 The Movies Aren't Canon

You have probably noticed that there are four movies that you can watch. The movies, while providing extra story, aren't actually canon for the most part. The third movie does show some actual backstory for Inuyasha's father, but other than that, it's pretty much fun to watch battles with tons of fan service.

The other movies are the same and have no actual impact on the story.

2 It Will Take You Awhile

It takes a long time to get through the whole anime. Totaled up, it will take you three days and four hours to watch the whole series including the Final Act. There are six seasons of the original, and the later-released Final Act that concludes the series.

In total, there are 193 episodes you need to watch. If you want to get through the whole series, it will probably take a few weeks.

1 Final Act Looks Newer

Kagome and Inuyasha embracing each other

The Final Act looks a lot newer since it came out in 2009. The original series started it's run in 2002 and mostly kept the same art style with small improvements as the show went along. For fans who love the smoother look of new anime, the last season should be easier to watch than the original.

The Final Act also has little to no filler and ties everything up perfectly.
