Go back to my question iPhone User profile for user: Austinmaxey Austinmaxey Author User level: Level 1 34 points iPhone call volume low

The volume coming from my ear speaker on my iPhone Xs Max is really low making it difficult to hear.

I have tried all these steps bellow and still have an issues have even did a factory reset with no resolve.

im up to date on the current iOS 13.3

Turn up the volume
While you're on a call, adjust the volume with the volume buttons. Make sure that you can see the volume indicator on the screen when you press the volume buttons.
Check the connections
If your iPhone is connected to a headset, you won't be able to hear through the iPhone receiver or using speakerphone. Follow these steps, testing after each.
Make sure that you don't have anything plugged into the headphone jack or the dock connector.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.
Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty.
Follow these steps, testing after each:
Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or screen protector.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a small, soft-bristled brush. Make sure that the brush is clean and dry.
While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
Restart and update
Restart your iPhone and test again.
If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.

  • iPhone 11 max speaker has gone quiet When making phone calls the volume is extremely low. I have to put the phone on Speaker mode to hear anything. The volume is set to max. I have switched Bluetooth on and off 1463 3
  • iPhone 11 low call volume Picked this up from a good friend. She said she had intermittent problems with low call volume. It works great with speaker on and headphones, but not hand to ear which is veeery low. I’ve installed the latest OS that I thought would solve this as it appears to be a software problem since it works the other to ways as mentioned. I’ve Google this and tried everything. This is ridiculous and I have never experienced anything like this on 5 other iphones. Any ideas? 813 3

Hello Austinmaxey,

Thank you for posting. I see you've been having issues with hearing while on calls, and it sounds like you've covered all of the steps in the link titled If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't clear on your iPhone.

If that's correct and you find the issue persists after trying everything in the link above, I recommend that you Contact Apple Support next.

Take care.
