Dear Dr. Vinny,

I frequently see the term "cases made" on your site. How many bottles of wine does a case contain?

Dear Murat,

A standard case contains 12 750ml bottles, for a total of 9 liters of wine. Our practice is to list the number of cases made or imported into the United States, and we get that information directly from the producer or importer. If the wine is sold in an unusual format—say, in 3-packs or in 375ml half-bottles—we do the math for you and convert the amount into 12-bottle, 9-liter case equivalents.
