Season 5 of Carl Weber’s“The Family Business” Confirmed

Season 5 of “The Family Business,” based on the same titular novel of Carl Weber, has been confirmed. The greenlit Season 5 doesn’t come as a surprise, as Carl Weber himself was teasing the possibility as far back as May of 2023. Season 5 has been confirmed as in production by some of the actors themselves, posting behind-the-scenes videos on social media - like this post from Sean Ringgold on Instagram.

”The Family Business” is based on the same book written by Carl Weber, also an ongoing crime series. So far, Weber has written six total books for the series which can all be found at a local book retailer, including Barnes and Noble. The books (and show) follow the Duncan family, who begin with a luxury car dealership as a front for their true family crime business. The Duncan Family is forced to juggle the dichotomy of their crime front dealership and raising a contemporary family.

With the cast of Carl Weber’s ”The Family Business” announcing that production is taking place as of December 2023, expect the show to air in the later half of 2024, likely with an official announcement from BET (or its parent network, Paramount) in the first half of 2024.

Starring in the televised version of Carl Weber’s ”The Family Business” are Ernie Hudson, Valarie Pettiford, Armand Assante, Darrin Henson and Emilio Rivera among others. The show has been televised since November of 2018 and has aired 34 episodes across 4 seasons.

”The Family Business” is available exclusively for streaming only on BET+. However, the four previous seasons are available for purchase and rent on Prime Video in its entirety, and Season 1 can be found for purchase on Google Play. Carl Weber’s ”The Family Business” is not available for purchase on physical DVD or Blu-Ray formats, only being available in digital.

As the show grows in popularity, there is always the potential for appearances on other streaming services and networks in the future.

Ernie Hudson features as the father, L.C. Duncan, of Carl Weber’s ”The Family Business” and is a long-tenured actor.
