General Discussion D2NK2021-1577 October 25, 2021, 5:37pm 1 I got 400MF on sorc but to get that high my res in hell suck with MF. So to compensate I was just going to farm hell cows till a high rune or good unique drops? Thoughts on strategy? I also can do LK since its a easy place to farm. Muyu-1611 October 25, 2021, 5:46pm 2 Hell Cows are amongst the worst place to farm. Drop rates aren’t all too stellar. Amazing place for runes to drop due to high density of mobs, but otherwise you’re better off farming Ancient Tunnels and The Pits for loot. Not sure if you’re aware so I’ll just state it for the sake of conversation, but Magic Find has no sway on Rune drop rates so you can effectively use nothing but performance gear and kill any monster in the game and still have the same chance to find Runes - and better chances in higher player count games as more players means more potential loot to drop from said mobs. Cows are however good for farming item bases. Monarchs tend to drop there quite a bit. :> 9 Likes TheDarkJedi-1970 October 25, 2021, 5:48pm 3 The Cowking is the exception on decent drops, since we can now kill him without being restricted from making future games. He almost always drops a greenie with a decent amount of magic find. Sure they’re usually junk, but still. 5 Likes anon64904692 October 25, 2021, 5:48pm 4 D2NK2021: LK From reading previous postings on the Kurast areas, D2:R gamers are sharing that they have experienced a huge reduction in decent drops from the poppables in LK. A nerfing so to speak. 1 Like Dreadzz-1687 October 25, 2021, 5:50pm 5 If you have a fasy claring build like a javazon it is one of the best places to farm for runes. 3 Likes TheDarkJedi-1970 October 25, 2021, 5:51pm 6 Dreadzz: If you have a fast claring build like a javazon Recently dropped some garbage Titans… Gonna have to spin up a javazon for cow herd murdering… 4 Likes teezyjumps-1459 October 25, 2021, 5:51pm 7 according to the drop calculator, with at least 350 mf, cow king is the best place for tal armor i haven’t had any luck in cows except a Mal rune, but i still mf cows every run 2 Likes Guitars-1883 October 25, 2021, 5:52pm 8 Hell cows are ok but it just depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for uniques/sets then cows are trash, better off doing andy/meph/tunnels/pits/mausoleum/wsk/chaos/etc… if you’re looking for high runes and bases for runewords then there aren’t many areas better than cows. 3 Likes Muyu-1611 October 25, 2021, 5:53pm 9 I run virtually everything except The Pits when I do my MF runs in this order; The Countess Andariel Summoner Lower Kurast (Public games of 3+ players only) Mephisto Diablo Pindleskin Thresh Socket Baal Cows Usually get one piece of gear of varying rarity, so it’s not all bad. :> And this is with my Pure Blizzard Sorceress, running with an A2 Cold NM merc. 4 Likes TheDarkJedi-1970 October 25, 2021, 5:55pm 10 Add a3 council to your run. Switching to a prayer merc will help him survive the hydras, especially if one spawns conviction aura. Plus you gain health over time. 1 Like Muyu-1611 October 25, 2021, 5:56pm 11 I would but I’m not a fan of those Blizzard spewing mobs in combination with Hydras everywhere also in combination with my Oculus sending me to random locations that often result in death. lol. 2 Likes TheDarkJedi-1970 October 25, 2021, 5:59pm 12 Ahh, I usually tele right at the entrance until the hydras pop up, then teleport in the structure and start blasting blizzard/glacial spike. The hydras are rendered useless until they time out, then they’re spawned inside… Then I just tele outside. Rinse and repeat. Council members are dumb and walk to you. 3 Likes Drose-1449 October 25, 2021, 6:13pm 13 Cows are good for rune drops because you can kill a lot of them in a short amount of time, it’s a great place for monster density. Runes are completely unaffected by MF, however, so if runes are your goal you want to go for kill speed > MF. Mephisto and Andy are better if you want a reasonably easy place to farm on hell for consistent unique/set drops. They can’t drop super high level items, but they’re great for farming up Shako, HoZ, Occy, etc. If you want a chance (although still astronomically low) of finding the extremely rare high-level uniques, you need to be in high level areas (the pit, ancient tunnels, mausoleum, chaos sanctuary, baal runs). Do a google search for D2 area levels and look for alvl 85 areas and find the ones that don’t have too many immunes for your element type. Keep in mind that wherever you decide to go, don’t sacrifice your ability to kill too much for MF. When it comes to unique/set items there are very harsh diminishing returns with MF. You increase your chances of getting a unique item more by going from 0-200%MF than you do by going from 200-1000%. Not to mention there is technically a downside as well when you turn more normal quality items into magic items. You could potentially turn what may have been a 3 open socket 15%ed superior archon plate that someone would pay a pretty penny for into a magic archon plate that charsi will take off your hands for that sweet 35k gold . 3 Likes Imperius-1260 October 25, 2021, 6:23pm 14 Farming runes and runeword bases Cows - Chaos Sanctuary (as little MF as possible) Farming uniques/sets Bosses and super unique monsters 1 Like mattyfresh-1110 October 25, 2021, 6:52pm 15 hell cows are good for zero mf base farming, with a slight benefit to runes just based on density. you want to farm high level areas like ancient tunnels, mausoleum, pits etc. trav can drop some nice runes but it can take a while. 1 Like D2NK2021-1577 October 25, 2021, 9:17pm 16 Thank you all great suggestions from everyone I will def incorporate pits and ancient tunnels. Might need to reduce MF just to survive long enough. BPPSY-1858 October 25, 2021, 9:29pm 17 Not at all. It is a decent place for mid runes and white basses for runewords (don’t use mf gear for that). The best bang for your buck will always be fast hell Mephisto runs unless you want something specific he doesn’t drop. Silamon-1485 October 25, 2021, 9:31pm 18 I’d hazard a guess and say they are not doing it with 7/8 players. LK is only good with 7/8, otherwise it’s pretty bad. Not to mention you can’t get a good map and farm it like you can in singleplayer. 1 Like D2NK2021-1577 October 25, 2021, 10:45pm 19 I lowered my MF to 370 and added some Res gear on still not perfect but no longer in the red approx 25% positive followed some of the farming recommendation as per the above. The Random Gods were kind to drop an arachneid sash! Besides all the issues so far with launch i honestly been enjoying this again. There is magic here that D3 just didnt have for me. Bodach-1471 October 25, 2021, 11:01pm 20 Yeah this. When I’m running cows, I do it with no or low mf. It’s all about the runes or bases. That said, it’s probably one of the more productive places to run because runes have the most value in the game. next page → Buy Now Tag » What Level Are Hell Cows Secret Cow Level Farming Guide - Diablo 2 Resurrected - Icy Veins Hell Bovine - Diablo 2 Wiki What Level Can You Start Doing Hell Cows For Exp? - Topic - D2jsp Hell Cows For Leveling? : R/diablo2 - Reddit The Secret Cow Level | Diablo Wiki - Fandom Hell Bovine | Diablo Wiki - Fandom Diablo 2 The Cow King | Weapon & Armor Drops, Weaknesses Best Way To Farm Hell Cows? - Diabloii.Net Hell Cows - Forums - Diabloii.Net Hell Bovine | Diablo 2 Resurrected | Strategies, Stats & Tips 100 Hell Cow Runs LOOT RECAP - Or What They Moo About In D2R!?
