Is Lil Pump Still Making Music? Here's Everything He's Been Up To ...

It was just a few years ago, in 2017, that Lil Pump was making headline after headline. The controversial SoundCloud rapper rose to fame that year thanks to "Gucci Gang," which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Later, the single was certified five-times platinum by the RIAA, leaving fans wondering if Lil Pump would become another case of a one-hit-wonder rapper.

With that being said, it's been a while since "Gucci Gang" dominated the airwaves. What has he been doing since then? Has he lived up to the expectation? Here's everything Lil Pump has been up to since "Gucci Gang" and what the future has in store for the controversial rapper.

6 Lil Pump Was Released By Warner Records

Shortly after the success of his 2017 singles "D Rose" and "Boss," Lil Pump signed a lucrative recording deal with Warner Records and Tha Lights Global. Pump, who was only 16 at the time, already racked up 272 thousand followers on the SoundCloud platform. However, the contract was later voided in January 2018, because he was a minor when he signed it. It led to a hot bidding war among other labels, which was reportedly worth up to $12 million. After many rumors including with Gucci Mane's label 1017 Records, Pump re-signed to Warner for $8 million.

5 Lil Pump Released His Feature-Heavy Second Album In 2019

Shortly after re-signing to the two imprints, Pump released his sophomore follow-up to his debut self-titled album, Harverd Dropout, in February 2019. The project is heavily stacked with top features from some of the hip-hop heavyweights including Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, Migos rappers Offset and Quavo, YG, 2 Chainz, and Pump's longtime friend Smokepurpp. Unfortunately, the heavily-stacked features couldn't save the album from flopping in the eyes of the critics, debuting at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart.

"Even when Kanye first met Pump, he was staring at him like, ‘Is this kid real?’ ’Cause Pump’s not out in public. Kids look at him like he’s a real cartoon that just changed clothes. Who is he? What does he do? How is he doing it?," Dooney Battle, Pump's manager, recalled in an interview with Billboard about his client's infamous charting collab with Kanye West, "I Love It."

4 Lil Pump's Anti-Asian Racism Controversy

However, in December 2018, Pump found himself in hot water after a snippet of his single "Butterfly Doors" surfaced online. The clip shows Pump saying pejorative slurs against the Asian community. Soon enough, the controversial snippet sparked outrage among Asian rappers, some even responded to it with anti-Pump diss tracks. Pump then took to Instagram to address the controversy.

"I came to tell you from my part that I'm sorry, and I apologize for posting that, it was not my intentions to hurt nobody, or do none of that, deada**. Cause I got Asian homies, you know, I f**k with everybody," he said.

To add more controversies to the top, Lil Pump endorsed Donald Trump during the 2020 presidential campaign. “Hello everybody, how y’all feeling?” said the controversial rapper on the stage. “I’ve come here to say, Mr. President, I appreciate everything you’ve done for our country. You brought the troops home and you’re doing the right thing. MAGA 20/20/20. Don’t forget that! And do not vote for Sleepy Joe at all!”

2 Lil Pump's Third Album

Ironically, Lil Pump did release a third album in 2021 and almost nobody knew about it. He linked up with producer Ronny J, who previously engineered his 2018 Kanye West collaboration "I Love It," for a joint album titled No Name. The project was never mentioned on social media, interviews, or press runs, leaving the future of the project in limbo. Initially titled Lil Pump 1.5, the album has a cameo verse from fellow rapper Tory Lanez and other producers like Darkboy Santana, Royce Millenium, and TwoFive.

1 'Lil Pump 2'

So, what's next for Lil Pump? Clearly, his controversial antics are not doing him any good, and if anything, Pump's fall from grace may come sooner than we thought. He's been making headlines for everything but his music. However, he has one upcoming album on his sleeves, titled Lil Pump 2, which he said to be the sequel of the self-titled debut album. The project is rumored to have guest verses from Bad Bunny, Yak Gotti, Chris Brown, and more. Could this be a chance for him to redeem himself?
