Why was NBA YoungBoy arrested?

On April 16, 2024, NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, was arrested in his Utah home.

The rapper was booked on multiple counts of drug possession, forgery, and identity fraud, according to police records.

According to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, authorities found a weapon on Gaulden.

His arrest comes after the Lonely Child rapper was under house arrest while awaiting trial for a federal gun case.

What was NBA YoungBoy charged with?

According to police reports, NBA YoungBoy was charged with six offenses.

These charges include:

  • Pattern of unlawful activity
  • Procuring or attempting to procure drug/prescription
  • Identity fraud
  • Forgery
  • Possession of other controlled substances
  • Possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person

What other legal troubles has NBA YoungBoy had?

In September 2020, NBA YoungBoy was arrested on drug and firearm charges after being found with two firearms.

The rapper pled not guilty to all charges brought against him.

Then, in March 2021, the rapper was arrested by federal agents in Los Angeles after he failed to stop by police during a traffic stop.

The rapper was locked up at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center in Louisiana since April of that year.

However, NBA YoungBoy was released from a Louisiana jail on October 26, 2021, to serve the remainder of his pre-trial jail time under house arrest in Utah.

Two years later, in October 2023, Gaulden’s attorney pleaded with the court to loosen his client’s restrictions, saying the “long period of social isolation is harming his mental health.”

The judge denied the plea but granted Gaulden to attend mental health and social services programs.

Gaulden’s trial for his previous charges is set to begin on July 15, 2024.
