Phastanscottsage P The title says it all "Is there a limit to how many snails you can have in an aquarium?" I mean I understand the 1" of fish per gallon but... I haven't seen a sail rule. #1 · Jul 15, 2009 The title says it all "Is there a limit to how many snails you can have in an aquarium?" I mean I understand the 1" of fish per gallon but... If you followed that rule it would be OK to put a 10 inch oscar in a 10 gallon, but that wouldn't turn out so good. For the snails tell us what type. If its a golden mystery snail I would put 4 at most in a 10 gallon, If there are too many in 1 tank it would look discusting and many of the snails would starve because they are all eating the algae. So just dont super stock your aquarium with snails ;-) #4 · Jul 16, 2009

Mystery snails are not effective algae eaters. More than that, they need to be supplemented with calcium which can be incorporated in gel food recipes, vegetable matter, commercial foods, etc. You can feed them Caltrate or Tums just fine. There is no fixed rule for asexual snails. Both ramshorns and bladder snails will proliferate rather quickly. Only food supply can influence their number. If you are feeding less, they will noticeably decrease in number. 0 Reply #3 · Jul 16, 2009 I just have 2 ram horns in a 10 gallon with a bunch of feeder snails 50+. I am attempting to breed them for my other fish to eat. I was just curious to how many would be too many. I also throw veggies into the tank so they don't start dying off due to starvation. #5 · Jul 17, 2009 Thank you both for your responses I really appreciate the help and good information :) Insert Quotes Post Reply
