31 Oct, 2014 @ 11:31pm Is there a way to keep the game from pausing when I open another window? Is it possible to keep the game from going into "pause" mode when I open another window? I'm trying to AFK farm, but I'd like to use my computer at the same time. < > Showing 1-15 of 22 comments

1 Nov, 2014 @ 12:12am If you want to go AFK - create a character just for farming that's buffed for summoning minions. Equip one of minion armors - tiki or spookywood ideally and the accessories to summon additional minions. Try to use the sharknados or the best minion available- I like to use the twins with it. You can only summon 1 pair of twins - then as many other minions as you can. then carry a blue candle with you, and set up shop. Assuming you are in hard mode - put wood platfoms down where you plan to farm. Ghosts can come from the bottom and kill you. If you stand on platforms and leave some room, your minions will destory them before they reach you. Using this method you don't have to spend time setting up traps and clearing stuff out. You can pick you biome, make a little room and set up the platforms and blue candle and you are done. I've been doing this for the halloween season and my guy can survive a solar eclipse or a blood moon with out any human intervention. I come back one every thirty minutes or so to pick stuff up and check what I found :) Last edited by JacK; 1 Nov, 2014 @ 12:13am #2

1 Nov, 2014 @ 2:39am Go to where your Steam folder is and then follow these steps: Steam>SteamApps>common>Terraria and then browse downwards and you will see a file named [TerrariaServer.exe], open it up and then pick your world. Now just press enter the whole time and go to your Terraria, go to multiplayer and join by typing "localhost", now you will join your world and you can switch between tabs without the game pausing because you're on a multiplayer server. 1 Nov, 2014 @ 7:56am I've found that if i click on the Terraria task icon in the task bar while windowed, the game will minimize without pausing, sometimes it take a couple clicks.Oddly enough, your mouse clicks will pass through though. This is Win 8.1 BTW, but i imagine Win 7 would be the same. #5

1 Nov, 2014 @ 10:55am oh, misunderstood you, my bad. I've never had that problem where it pauses and I am tabbing out most of the time. I am not sure how you are closing the program, but in steam I shift+tab then hit the windows keys to get back to my desktop, then the game keeps running and I can run other programs. #6

1 Nov, 2014 @ 8:24pm I'm not sure what all these other guys are talking about, because the game should keep running if you just minimize the window before you click on anything else. It'll keep running in the background as long as it's minimized, and you can do other stuff in the meantime. I've used this very method for plenty of AFK farms before. #9

9 Dec, 2018 @ 10:50am Definitely necro'ing at this point, but this hasn't been solved yet soo...If you want it to not minimize, just set it to windowed mode.If you (like me) don't want the white bar because of immersion reasons: In Terraria, go to Settings > Video > Resolution > set Borderless Window to Enabled. Then, turn on windowed mode (if you still see the white bar at the top, restart Terria). This should get rid of the minimizing problems you have while still keeping the fullscreen immersion. Hope I could help! #10

13 Jan, 2019 @ 9:39pm ... that has litteraly nothing to do with the game pausing while tabbing out. It‘s for pausing while interacting with npc or inventory... #12

13 Jan, 2019 @ 11:06pm Go into multiplayer and select host and play. The world will then run like a server so it won't pause. No fancy tricks necessary.Hope this helps! #13
