I'm assuming this is in your single player world. If not, then you might have difficulty doing this. What you do is press the chat button (T by default) and type /gamerule doFireTick false Also, you have to have cheats enabled if it's a single player world, otherwise you won't be able to do anything about it. Yep this'll work but there is one teensy little problem, that rule stops fires from spreading but it also stops them from burning out, and doesn't stop new fires from starting! So with doFireTick false, when lava or lightning start fires they'll just keep going FOREVER and never actually burn anything or go out! Your house will be fine but you'll see some weird things happen in the rest of the world! You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."

Quote from KIMB00P Why did we bring back an old thread? lol.
This^ But in actual reply to the post. You can do one of two things. -Do it with the command listed above by other posts. - Or, check this out cause this is CRAZY. But you can, just light it because if it is surrounded by stone, stone doesn't burn. Glad to help, I hope you and your fireplace live a wondrous life. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

You can also use world-edit on your server to //ex to stop any fires, or you can easily make a copy of the save, really easy solutions. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack
