The seven-member band, BTS, vowed to help the US President Biden tackle the hate crime issue against Asians.

The usually cramped White House briefing room was even more packed than usual on Tuesday, as journalists lined-up to hear BTS speak at the press conference.
K-pop sensation BTS paid a visit to the White House on Tuesday to meet President Joe Biden and discuss the hate crimes and disinformation against Asian Americans. The White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre introduced BTS band members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Jungkook at the briefing on the final day of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The seven-member band, all in their 20s, vowed to help president Biden tackle the hate crime issue. "It’s not wrong to be different," Suga said in Korean, which was translated through an interpreter. "Equality begins when we open up and embrace all of our differences.” V said that “everyone has their own history."You Might Also Like:You Might Also Like thumb-91915767

The BTS band members wore black suits and ties. All seven members took turns briefly to address the media before leaving the White House press conference room to head to their meeting with Biden. "We were devastated by the recent surge of hate crimes, including Asian American hate crimes," said Jimin. "To put a stop on this and support the cause, we’d like to take this opportunity to voice ourselves once again."

“We hope today is one step forward to understanding and respecting each and everyone as a valuable person,” V added.Last year, the K-pop band had released a statement in support of the Stop Asia Hate movement. The band recalled their own experiences with racial discrimination and hatred as they condoled the violence that went down at series of massage parlours in Georgia last year targeting Asian women. "We cannot put into words the pain of becoming the subject of hatred and violence for such a reason. Our own experiences are inconsequential compared to the events that have occurred over the past few weeks. But these experiences were enough to make us feel powerless and chip away our self-esteem," the band had said in a statement.

Ever since their debut in 2013, the seven boys from Korea have conquered the hearts of millions all over the world for their self-produced music and activism, which includes the band's appearance at the United Nations. You Might Also Like:You Might Also Like thumb-90970441

The briefing, which was livestreamed from the White House, attracted over 230,000 viewers before the event even began."We still feel surprised that music created by South Korean artists reaches so many people around the world, transcending languages and cultural barriers," said Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS said. The singer said BTS believes that "music is always an amazing and wonderful unifier of all things."

After BTS spoke, reports jumped in to ask them questions, however, Jean-Pierre, intervened, saying "We're gonna go," which prompted the members to offer an apology. "We're sorry," the members said as they stepped down from the podium. BTS later shared a picture with Biden on their official Twitter account. All seven-members and the US president posed with Korean heart hand sign.

Thanks for having us at the White House! It was a huge honor to discuss important issues with @POTUS today. We're very grateful for #BTSARMY who made it all possible.🫰💜 #BTS #방탄소년단 #BTSatTheWhiteHouse pic.twitter.com/PZd8Ox2Kea
