Home Movies No. Bloody hell... no. Why, Cartoon Network, why?

Of all the bad things to happen this past week, without question, the worst was the cancelling (or unextension) of the best animated series of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and cable television for that matter.

I watched the final episode in denial, though I knew it was the end. I went through a few days of good old fashioned denial and repression. When I watched it again with Yasi, I told her that it was the end in jest. I had fooled myself into thinking it wasn't true, but afterwards we pressed buttons on a keyboard and moved a puck shaped input device and saw that it had indeed been cancelled. Cartoon Network decided it didn't sell enough "Home Movies" tee shirts, watches, bath towels and bowling balls. Stupid white man.

So if anybody cares, sign a petition asking for it to come back pretty pleeze with curdled milk on top. Brendon Small, the show's creator who shares his name with the main character and does his voice, is shown here talking about the predicament.

Yasi and I saw him perform at the Regatta Bar in Cambridge last year, in front of an audience maybe the same size as Home Movies' fan base, roughly 20 to 30. I kid. But it was a great show nonetheless, and not Home Movies related, so regardless what happens to Jason, Melissa, Coach McGuirk, Paula, etc. I know there will be lots of great stuff coming from Brendon.
