Jaiden Dittfach (born: September 27, 1997 [age 28]) known as Jaiden Animations, or simply as Jaiden, is an American YouTuber, animator, storyteller and comedian who draws and animates many other stories about her life and personality, and random things that happen in her life, especially with her pet parrots Ari, and Tofu. Her most recent uploads have been animations related to video games.

History

Her career started when Jaiden sent a fanart to iHasCupquake, who Jaiden watched and liked at the time. The channel noticed her artwork, and she was offered to do an animation in the channel, and so, she started to make animations on iHasCupquake's channels. Jaiden first created her channel on February 16, 2014.

The channel initially started out with short animations and speed art (though most speed art videos were likely later set to private), as well as piano videos. Jaiden later uploaded longer story-time animations, in a tight schedule of 2 weeks. She was an individual YouTuber, but later on in 2018, she built up a team of animators working for her, so she can chill out.

In November 2019, she started to make videogame animations, starting with her first Nuzlocke video. The channel has mostly consisted of videogame animations since 2020.

Appearance

Jaiden has dot eyes and multiple ear piercings, Her outfit doesn’t have any color (though she wears lavender, as depicted in her profile). In her announcement videos, Jaiden is depicted as a "gremlin", being completely colorless, except having a purple outline.

Real life

Face

Jaiden initially did not reveal her face because she didn't want people to have an opinion on her based on her looks. During VidCon 2016, Jaiden also said she took pictures with people, but she wished she didn't. However, during the convention, her face was leaked by an undisclosed person. She was mortified and forced herself to explain why she didn't want people to see her. However, later on, Jaiden let them upload the original video.

In the VidCon 2016 video from Rebecca Parham (also known as Let Me Explain Studios), she showed a picture with herself and Jaiden. In a later comment by Rebecca, Jaiden said that she was fine with her face being shown on her 2016 VidCon video.

Jaiden never revealed her face officially until April 6, 2017.

The only other time Jaiden has shown her face on a different YouTuber's channel (that is known so far) is on Tom Scott's channel during the first episode of his series, "Disconnected". During the episode, she played in the first round as the Yellow player. Her first question was on Colorful Birds, which she answered "peacock", and she got her question right. After that, her second question was on Planets, which she answered "Mercury", but Hank (the green player) challenged, and she lost her first life, then she and Ellen (the blue player) didn't challenge Hank on "decimetre", dropping them both to their last life. Her third question was on Comic Villains, and she answered "The Penguin", but Ellen challenged, and Jaiden lost her last bar of life, eliminating her from the game.

Hair

Older videos shown in Jaiden's videos show her hair being long and straight in childhood. During high school and college, she dyed her hair, starting with 2 red streaks (similar to Boyinaband except with 1 red streak), and then fading colors at the end of the hair. One of these dyed hairs made her look like iHasCupquake, her favorite YouTuber during high school. She currently has brown hair and the hair is thick. Her hair also commonly falls out "like snakes all over the place".

Jaiden also said that she has an undercut since 2018 because she had too much hair and she was bored with her hair.

Height

Jaiden is not a particularly tall person, being around 5' 6" (or 168 cm).

Personal life

Jaiden was born on September 27, 1997 in Arizona. After a brief "wild child" phase, she turned out to be a well-behaved girl. Jaiden's parents only grounded her once in her tween years, for playing outside in her pajamas whilst a sitter was watching the family. Long story short, the sitter let her get away with it; Jaiden's parents did not.

Jaiden’s family would always visit Canada or South Lake Tahoe in California because she said that "her family doesn't like to live in a volcano". Jaiden later moved to Los Angeles, California in 2018, where she now lives with Alpharad.

Sports

Jaiden played various sports growing up, including gymnastics. Her favorite is tennis, which she played in high school.

Education

Not much is known about Jaiden's school years, but she briefly went to Arizona State University for animation[1][2]. She dropped out of college in 2016 to pursue her YouTube career.

Relationships

Although Jaiden has been on dates in multiple occasions in the past, most of her dating life is currently being kept private. Jaiden says that she finds it hard to like people romantically, and she does not consider herself "fully gay" or "fully straight". On March 20, 2022, in a video called Being Not Straight, Jaiden said that she is aromantic and asexual (or aro-ace).

Background

Both of Jaiden's parents are Canadian by birth. Her mother is of Japanese descent while her father is of German descent.

Health

Mental health issues

Jaiden suffered from eating disorders while in college, mainly bulimia and anorexia, and she also suffered from anxiety and depression, as well as body dysmorphia and self-consciousness. She has now overcome them and has made a music video about her disorder with David Brown (aka Boyinaband) called Empty.

Vegan

She has also explained that she is a vegan. She didn't want to tell people this because she knows how controversial that word can be. Her status as a vegan is likely due to how animals are treated in farms, but Jaiden mentioned that she is an animal lover.

COVID-19

On June 22, 2022, Jaiden tweeted that she tested positive for COVID-19 after unknowingly being exposed to it. 8 days later, she said on a now-deleted tweet that she has recovered from COVID-19.

Pets

Jaiden has a pet bird named Ari. Ari was bought from a breeder in April 2016. During her COVID-19 charity stream on April 7, 2020, she revealed she got another pet, Tofu, whom she got in October 2019. On the first day of her subathon, it was revealed that she had a cat named Tostada, or rather Tostada revealed herself to the audience.

Videos

Jaiden frequently uploads videos that are animated. Occasionally, she makes announcement videos featuring her "gremlin" character. More recently, she has been uploading videogame animations, with games such as Pokémon and Amazing Island.

Thumbnails

The thumbnails on most Jaiden videos since 2016 have remained the same, with a little Jaiden figure on the lower left corner. Jaiden uses the Seravek font for the thumbnail text, and the thumbnail design features a translucent white rectangle on the thumbnail borders.

However, in recent videos, the thumbnails have changed. It features the Jaiden character on the right side with some sort of screenshot from a game (or lack thereof), sometimes featuring text. 4 videos changed to this thumbnail design on March 17, 2022, and her latest video, Speedrunning a rhythm game is hard, features that thumbnail design (although the Jaiden character is in the middle).

It is likely that the thumbnail design has changed to attract the YouTube algorithm, as some (or most) YouTubers have been using that design to attract the algorithm.
