Jamie Newman is a senior research public health analyst in the Health Informatics Program of the Social, Statistical & Environmental Sciences unit of RTI. She is a behavioral scientist with a background in public health research, clinical trials, community-based health promotion programs, neonatal research, monitoring and evaluation, and HIV care and treatment programs in resource-limited countries. She has expertise in the process evaluation of behavioral interventions and randomized clinical trials.

Dr. Newman’s research focus is on maternal and child health and its intersections with opioid use disorder. Currently, she serves as the administrative core principal investigator for the HEAL Initiative ACT NOW Outcomes of Babies with Opioid Exposure Study Consortium which examines the impact of antenatal opioid exposure on infants from birth to two years of age. Much of Dr. Newman’s work at RTI has been focused on the two-year and school-age follow-up of high-risk infants for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Neonatal Research Network.
