Jane the Virgin season five has finally made a return after fans were left shocked by the cliffhanger ending the series four finale. The series will pick up the story from that revelation and run with the story, bringing it to a natural conclusion. Season five of Jane the Virgin was confirmed in 2018 by US network The CW but sadly for fans it’s going to be the last one ever.

While all previous seasons have premiered in October, the final cycle debuted earlier than this in April.

Jane the Virgin’s last run will consist of 19 episodes in total, which is longer than the fourth season but still shorter than all the other cycles.

British fans will be able to watch season five on Netflix with episodes expected to hit the streaming platform not longer after US transmission.

Executive producer Brad Silberling told Metro US in 2019 that the plan was always for five seasons and around 100 episodes in the show.

Silberling explained: “It is a wonderful final season of the show… This will only make real sense when you have seen the content of the fifth season of the show.

“It is exactly as it was laid out… [We’ve] always known when it was going to end.”

He added: “It will be 100 episodes when it’s done and 100 is exactly where Jennie [Snyder Urman, creator and executive producer] always hoped it could end the story. So it’s perfect.”

Lead star and executive produced Gina Rodriguez previously hinted that season five was the last after she served as a director on some of the episodes.

Jane the Virgin is based on the popular Venezuelan telenovela Juana La Virgen.

Where is Jane the Virgin season 5 set?

While plot details are being kept under wraps, season five is set to resolve the cliffhanger that fans were left on at the end of the fourth run.

The show will most likely still be set in Miami, Florida where the previous runs have also been set.

A lot of Jane the Virgin is set in South Beach, Downtown Miami and Miami Beach.

Some of the other settings in the show include the Everglades and the Calle Ocho festival.

Where is Jane the Virgin season 5 filmed?

The show may be set in Florida but it’s actually filmed in Los Angeles, California.

Scenes are filmed at a number of soundstage near the MBS media campus close to Manhattan Beach.
