Before Wealth & Fame

Growing up outside Atlanta, Georgia, Jeff Foxworthy had several jobs before becoming famous for his comedy and acting. He initially wanted to pursue a career as a cartoon artist and briefly worked in construction.

Most notably, Foxworthy worked for five years at IBM as a computer repairman. While working at the company, his co-workers encouraged him to enter a comedy competition, which launched his career. Despite leaving IBM to focus on comedy full-time, he initially wasn’t making much money and often had doubts. He considered quitting and rejoining IBM, but his wife convinced him otherwise.

Real Estate

In 1997, Foxworthy acquired 3.88 acres of land in Johns Creek, Georgia, for $85,000. He then spent three years building a 14,661-square-foot, five-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion on the lot. After living there for 19 years, he put the home on the market for $3 million in 2020. The house sold in April 2021 for $2.8 million.
