Jelly Roll Biography

Jason DeFord, professionally known as Jelly Roll, is a Nashville native who made a name for himself by touring the United States and selling mixtapes by hand. From run-down dive bars to sold-out music halls, his energetic performances are characterized by a blend of southern rock and dirty south rap.

The release of his singles "Need a Favor" and "Son of a Sinner", ascended Jelly Roll's career to mainstream prominence. He has received a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist, and was recognized at the 57th Annual Country Music Association Awards in 2023, where he won the award for New Artist of the Year, as well as the Male Video of the Year, Male Breakthrough Video of the Year, and Digital-First Performance of the Year. His discography includes albums like "Strictly Business," "No Filter," "A Beautiful Disaster," and "Whitsitt Chapel." In 2026, he won two Grammys for Best Contemporary Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Amen" with Shaboozey.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Jelly Roll has used his platform to advocate for anti-fentanyl legislation. In 2024, he testified before the U.S. Congress in support of this cause. In 2025, he was invited by his idol, Craig Morgan, to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.
