The beautiful beach town of Jupiter Florida is located in Palm Beach County. The town is located about an hour and a half outside the city of Miami, and lies on the coast of Florida. Jupiter got its name through a miscommunication between some founders and mapmakers. Nevertheless the name Jupiter stuck. It was originally named after the Hobe Tribe. Even though it is a beach town, Jupiter has over 60,000 residents. The most valued landmark in Jupiter is The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse.

Get in[edit]

By Plane[edit]

Palm Beach International Airport located in West Palm Beach is a 26 minute drive to Jupiter. Follow I-95 North to FL-881 North to West Indiantown Road in Jupiter.

By Car[edit]

For those driving from northeast Florida (Jacksonville), take Main St North to FL-10 East then follow I-95 South to FL-706 East/West Indiantown Road, take exit 87 A and follow FL-706 to W Indiantown Road. Should take around 4 hours. Expect tolls.

For those coming from northwest Florida (Tallahassee), get on I-10 East fro, Thomasville Road, then continue on I-10 E and take I-75 South, FL-91 South and Florida's turnpike to West Indiantown Road, take exit 116 from Florida-91 S. Will take around 5 hours and 45 minutes. Expect tolls.

For those driving from southern Florida (Miami), get on I-95 North from South Miami Ave, continue on I-95 to Palm Beach Gardens, and take exit 79A. Take FL-811 North to West Indiantown Road. Should take 1 hour 25 minutes. Expect tolls.

Get around[edit]

By foot[edit]

The best way to get around Jupiter is by walking. You can walk to most places on the island and take in the beach scenery.

By car[edit]

There is plenty of both meter parking and free parking in Jupiter. Along the beach you will find places to parallel park as well as parking lots. The new Riverwalk features free parking as well! Need to rent a car? There is an Enterprise on Toney Penna Drive, a Budget on U.S. 1, an Avis on U.S. 1 and you can also rent cars from Palm Beach Airport.

Public Transportation[edit]

Jupiter and Palm Beach County offer Palm Tran. Jupiter uses route 10. Adult fare one-way is $1.50 (students and senior citizens pay $.75). There is also the Tri-Rail which links Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

Sightseeing[edit]

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse has one of the best views in all of Jupiter! Here you can see the beautiful town of Jupiter and turn around to gaze at where the elite live on Jupiter Island.

Want to see more of Jupiter? Try the Diva Duck Tour. This amphibious vehicle will take you to see old West Palm Beach as well as take you into the water to see the wildlife!

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect place to take children of any age! Kids and adults can both enjoy this amazing place. The people who run Busch take in injured and confiscated animals to rehab them. This is the perfect place to see local animals both small and large!

Feel like having a relaxing day? Go for a walk, bike, or canoe ride at Riverbend Park. This is the spot to take in the scenery and watch the sun set. This park is a little gem from "old Florida."

Roger Dean Stadium is the place to catch a ballgame! During spring training you can catch the Cardinals or the Mets practicing here! The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse features a museum as well! Here you can learn the history of the lighthouse and a little more about the Island!

Another popular museum in the Jupiter area is the Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum. Here you can learn all about the famous Burt Reynolds as well as his friends and inspirations. This is the perfect place to go on a rainy day!

Want to catch the latest chick flick or action movie? The best place to do that is Cinepolis theatre at The Shoppes at Jupiter. This theatre is a luxury movie theatre with reclining seats and waiter service. This comes complete with a bar and full menu as well. If you are going to watch a movie you may as well do it in style!

The first place recommended to fulfill your retail therapy needs is Harbourside Place. Here you can find a place to shop for everyone! A Pink Princess for toddlers, Tommy Bahama for him, and White House Black Market for her. There is even a place for pets called Pucci and Catana. If these stores were not what you were looking for, try The Gardens Mall. Located only 13 minutes from Jupiter, The Gardens features many different levels of stores. From high end to affordable, this mall has it all!

Get out[edit]

  • West Palm Beach only 13 minutes from Jupiter! Here you can see the Palm Beach, Mounts Botanical Garden, or the Norton Museum of Art
  • Head south on I-95 to Miami to visit South Beach, the Seaquarium, or Marlin Park
  • Head north on I-95 to Orlando to visit one of the many parks that they have there
