"Undeniably, I'm a country singer; I'm a country songwriter. But I feel like I make country music for people who like country music and for people who don’t."
- Born Kacey Lee Musgraves on Aug. 21, 1988 in Golden, Texas
- Kacey Musgraves announced her arrival in 2013 with the release of her major label solo debut album Same Trailer Different Park. The album contained the hit singles "Merry Go Round," "Blowin' Smoke" and "Follow Your Arrow." Musgraves was also on the pop and country charts that year as a co-writer of Miranda Lambert's hit "Mama's Broken Heart."
- Musgraves won her first GRAMMY for Best Country Album for Same Trailer Different Park at the 56th GRAMMY Awards. She made her debut on the GRAMMY stage that same year when she performed "Follow Your Arrow."
- Did you know? Musgraves was 8 years old when she wrote her first song, titled "Notice Me." It was written specifically to be played at her elementary school graduation.
- She performed at the 2014 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert honoring Carole King. The annual gala raises funds for MusiCares, which provides services and resources that cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies for music people.
- Musgraves organized her Hometown Hang concert in 2015 to raise money in support of art and music programs in local Texas schools. She has also worked in support of PetSmart charities, the T.J. Martell Foundation and the Young Survival Coalition.
