Predebut

Karina was active on Social Media and was a former ulzzang recruited by an SM casting manager and she became an SM trainee in 2016.

In February 2019, Karina appeared in SHINee Taemin's "WANT" music video and also acted as dancer for the song's promotional stages.

On November 1, 2020, she performed alongside EXO Kai for the virtual showcase held by Hyundai Motors and appeared with him in 'Beyond DRIVE - The all-new TUCSON', a collaboration virtual showcase between Hyundai Motor Company and SM Entertainment.

On October 28, 2020, SM revealed Karina as the second member of aespa.[4]

2020: aespa

On November 17, 2020, Karina debuted with the digital single "Black Mamba" as the leader, a dancer, rapper and visual of aespa.[5]

2021-present: aespa, GOT the beat

On December 27, 2021, Karina was revealed as part of the new unit GOT the beat from the project "Girls On Top".

On January 3, 2022, she debuted with GOT the beat with the digital single "Step Back".

On December 26, 2022, Karina released the songs "The Cure" and "Hot & Cold" in collaboration with other SM artists for SMTOWN's tenth winter album 2022 Winter SMTOWN : SMCU PALACE.

On September 22, 2023, she released her first OST "Sad Waltz" for the Netflix drama Song of the Bandits.

On October 9, 2024 Karina participated in writing her original solo song "UP" for aespa's album SYNK : PARALLEL LINE. On the same day, her solo songs moved from aespa's discography to her solo Spotify profile.
