From a young age, Katt Williams was a highly intelligent individual. Although he hasn’t shared too many details about his childhood at 13, he passed tests that allowed him to become emancipated. After being granted emancipation, Williams left his home and moved to Florida. During this time, he supported himself by working multiple jobs, the most notable of which was as a street vendor selling books and magazines.

Williams was also a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and painting. He also worked briefly as a door-to-door salesman before pursuing stand-up comedy full-time. After performing on the streets and realizing some success, he transitioned to performing his stand-up in local clubs.

Comedy Career

In the late 1990s, Katt Williams began performing stand-up comedy in clubs across the United States. This led to him appearing on BET’s Comic View, which was responsible for his initial recognition as a comic.

In 2006, Williams released his first two specials, Katt Williams: Live and The Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1, with the latter grossing approximately $24 million in revenues. The shows’ successes led to Katt releasing several comedy specials throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, including the likes of It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’ (2008), Kattpacalypse (2012), and Priceless: Afterlife (2014).

He later starred in projects such as Treasure n tha Hood (2005), Norbit (2007), First Sunday (2008), Scary Movie B (2012), and Father Figures (2017).

While many of his appearances as an actor were considered minor roles or cameos, they significantly helped build his star-power in the entertainment industry.

$59 Million Embezzlement

In May 2019, Williams was interviewed on the “Jemele Hill is Unbothered” Podcast and stated that he was a victim of embezzlement after his former employees stole upwards of $59 million from him, which he only discovered through a U.S. Department of Justice investigation.

Williams said that he had been under federal investigation for six years because things kept happening to him that shouldn’t have. Thanks to the investigation, he finally uncovered the people responsible for the embezzlement and fired them immediately, with some blackmailing him in retaliation.

However, Williams was also a suspect in the embezzlement, as the Department of Justice had reason to believe he might have been laundering the money himself, but this claim was quickly dismissed.

Real Estate

According to public records, in June 2008, Katt Williams paid $3.3 million for an 8,771-square-foot, six-bedroom, nine-bathroom home in Calabasas, California. The property included an outdoor pool, BBQ area, three-car garage, home theater, and billiard room.

However, in 2010, Williams suffered several financial issues, with reports suggesting his Rolly Royce was repossessed. The home was foreclosed upon that year and sold by the bank in 2011 for $2.75 million.
