Introduction

Kelsey Grammer is an American professional actor and comedian with an estimated net worth of $80 Million.

Grammer is best known for his performances on the NBC sitcoms Frasier and Cheers. Throughout his career, he has won several awards, including three Golden Globe Awards, one Tony Award, and five Primetime Emmy Awards.

Acting Career

In the late 1970s, Kelsey Grammer performed at the Old Globe Theatre before moving to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. During this time, he appeared in several plays, including Too Good to Be True and A Month in the Country. He made his Broadway debut in 1981 in Macbeth and then performed alongside James Earl Jones in the Broadway revival of Othello.

However, Grammer’s big break came in 1984 when he was cast in one of the best TV shows of all time, Cheers. Kelsey Grammer was cast as Dr. Frasier Crane in Cheers after his Broadway co-star Mandy Patinkin recommended him for the role. Although he was supposed to appear in only six episodes, Grammer’s performance made him a regular cast member.

Grammer remained on Cheers until its final season in 1993 while voicing the character of Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons. To date, Grammer has appeared in 22 episodes of The Simpsons, most recently in “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” in 2023.

Frasier

Following the end of Cheers, Grammer earned his spin-off series, Frasier, in 1993. By 2001, he was earning $700,000 per episode, making him one of the wealthiest actors in the world, mainly due to his immense popularity.

During Frasier’s 11-year run, Kelsey Grammer won numerous awards for his performance, including 10 Primetime Emmy nominations. He spent a total of 20 years portraying Frasier Crane and recently returned to the role in 2023 for the Frasier revival on Paramount+.

After the original Frasier ended in 2004, Grammer produced a U.S. adaptation of the British show, The Sketch Show. He then appeared in the sitcom Back to You in 2007, but it was canceled after only one season.

In 2010, Grammer made his Broadway musical debut in La Cage aux Folles and was nominated for a Tony Award. A year later, he starred in his first dramatic TV role as the fictional mayor of Chicago in the Starz show Boss. From 2010 to 2012, he guest-starred as a satirical version of himself alongside Tracy Morgan in the NBC show 30 Rock.

Frasier Salary & Earnings

The earliest disclosed salary for Kelsey Grammer’s work on Frasier was announced before the third season. It’s worth mentioning that Grammer didn’t just star on the show; he also served as an executive producer, which is one of the reasons why he eventually became the highest-paid actor on television. For seasons three and four, Grammer reportedly earned $250,000 per episode. With twenty-four episodes per season, this would have equated to $6 million apiece for seasons three and four.

By season eight, Kelsey’s salary had increased to $700,000 per episode, totaling $16.8 million. This works out to a combined $28.8 million for seasons three, four, and eight. However, we’re missing five seasons in between. You can be sure that he was paid at least $250,000 per episode for seasons five through seven, securing at least another $18 million, if not more.

For the final three seasons of Frasier, Kelsey Grammer reportedly earned $1.6 million per episode, making him the highest-paid actor on television at the time. This works out to $38.4 million per season, totaling $115.2 million. Add that to our earlier figures, and you end up with a minimum total earnings of $162 million. However, the actual number is likely to fall between $170 million and $190 million.

Real Estate

During our research into Kelsey Grammer’s previous real estate transactions, we came across over a dozen properties, primarily in California, as well as several in New York, and one in Colorado, and another in Bristol, England. Here are some of his most notable acquisitions over the years:

Malibu Estate

In May 1998, Kelsey paid $4.5 million for a 13,926-square-foot, seven-bedroom, thirteen-bathroom estate in Malibu, California. This property spans 4.94 acres and features a wide range of amenities, including a security outpost, equestrian facility, gym, cinema, tennis court, poolhouse, wine cellar, and spas (plural). Oh, and the kitchen was designed by Wolfgang Puck himself.

Unfortunately, Grammer surrendered this home to his former wife, Camille, after their divorce in 2011. She later sold it for $12.94 million in November 2015.

Colorado Home

In 2002, Grammer paid $5.35 million for a newly-built, 8,230-square-foot, six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in Avon, Colorado. Not much else is known about the property, other than that he sold it for $6.6 million in September 2013.

Bridgehampton Home

In January 2006, Kelsey paid $8.52 million for a 7,818-square-foot, five-bedroom property in Bridgehampton, New York, on 1.67 acres. We don’t know much about the property other than what we can see on the aerial images: an outdoor pool and tennis court. Grammer sold this home for just under $10 million in May 2011, which was slightly less than he had expected.
