The Brooklyn Nets will finally have star Kevin Durant back on their roster after the team announced that the forward is off the injury report and will reappear Thursday against the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Durant has not played for the Nets since suffering a sprained left MCL on January 15 during a game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Nets in free fall due to Durant's absence

Since then, the Nets have a 5-16 record and the team went from second place in the Eastern Conference to eighth place, which means that if they finish the regular season like this they would have to play in the Play-In tournament.

Durant's return is expected to boost the play of Brooklyn, which once lost the forward, who averaged 29.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists before his injury.

Durant returns to Nets with different stars

Once Durant reappears, the Nets will be closer to having their Big Three on the court, although not the same one they had last offseason, as during the NBA star's absence the team changed some players.

James Harden and Paul Millsap came to the Philadelphia 76ers, who sent three-time All-Star Ben Simmons, Seth Curry and Andre Drummond to the Nets.

However, Simmons is still working to get in shape to make his debut with his new team, although he has suffered back strain during his reconditioning.

In addition, Kyrie Irving is still only available for the Nets' away games due to the COVID-19 legislation that exists in New York, although it awaits whether the city's mayor, Eric Adams, relaxes the vaccination mandate.
