Kevin Gates Is Learning About Urine Therapy In Quarantine

Kevin Gates seems to be pretty relaxed right now. He’s on his family farm out in the middle of Calabasas, enjoying his blueberry bushes, and trying to figure out what to name the lake he's currently adding on to his estate. Men’s Health recently chatted with the rapper to see how he’s holding up during quarantine and what he’s doing to ensure relaxation from the comfort of his home.

For Gates, working out (specifically using his ab wheel and jogging) and early meditations are essentials to maintaining his creativity right now, as they help him feel accomplished and ready to take on his day. “I do that in the morning and it helps me kind of navigate which way my day is gonna go,” he says. “Do the hard part in the morning, and the rest of the day is easy.”

When he’s done with his early physical activities, the rapper makes a point to find ways to relax, whether it be through reading or listening to music. And for his movie of choice? Well, he's unsurprisingly a Marvel fan, like the rest of the universe. “When it’s time for me to watch a movie, I always watch Black Panther,” he says with excitement. “Seeing them be able to do all that superhuman shit from eating this one lit herb… Wakanda forever!”

Amid being stuck at home, Gates is catching up on a little light reading, discovering some new—and slightly disgusting—homeopathic remedies. "The last book I read, or skimmed through, is called Urine Therapy," he says. "It's about using your own urine to heal all kinds of shit that goes on with your body. It was mind-boggling to me because I didn't know that smelly stuff was so powerful, in a good way."

The rapper also has become an at-home spa connoisseur of sorts, using a bunch of different products to help with relaxation. He currently loves using a face exfoliator, and when given the time, he enjoys mixing argan oil and whipped shea butter to lather on his body. He also has an affinity for keeping fragrances in every toiletry bag he owns, as it’s the final touch to "keeping everything together."

If there’s anything Gates is passionate about, it’s his love of comfort food… and it’s one that would put a smile on anyone’s face: some chicken fingers (with extra toast) from Raising Canes, and an ice cream sundae from the drive-thru at McDonalds. But it seems like one very important person in his life isn’t necessarily on board with his habit.

“I usually eat it before I get home, stop at the gas station and throw it in the trash,” he jokes. “I don’t like it when my wife judges me.”

As for who he’d love to spend a spa day with, dead or alive? Well, his choices seem to share a love for boxing. “If it was somebody alive, I think it would be Mike Tyson,” he says. “If it was somebody dead, I think it would be Muhammad Ali. I think that would be fly.”

As if that wasn't enough, there's one more thing he keeps in his routine to keep his calm demeanor: he loves playing Native American tribal music while hanging out with his dog Link.
