Thanks for that. The calculator on it converts 68 inches to 172.72 cm. Which is basically what I said. 173cm is 5'8". These are standardised units, they don't float around between two very different values. I think you are mixing up 5'8" with 5.8 feet, which is very different. 5.8 feet is 5'9.5", which is closer to your 176cm. Don't forget there are 12 inches in a foot, not 10!
