KINGSTON, N.Y. — Kingston Point Beach is temporarily closed to swimmers due to slightly elevated bacteria levels in the Hudson River.

The city announced the closure on its Facebook page Thursday and said the beach was closed due to slightly elevated bacteria levels per the Ulster County Department of Health.

On Saturday more than a dozen swimmers could be seen in the water as temperatures soared into the 90s despite several signs warning of the closure due to “river water quality per the Ulster County Health Department.”

A large sign on the lifeguard’s station also noted the beach was closed and warned there was no lifeguard on duty.
