Season five of Riverdale won’t be on screens for some time due to the coronavirus pandemic, which led American broadcaster The CW to push back all of its fall premiere schedules until 2021. Riverdale is one of the shows affected by this and filming is taking place right now with the show expected to make its big comeback next year. In the meantime, fans want to know more about the main cast including KJ Apa who is better known as Archie Andrews.

How tall is Riverdale star KJ Apa?

Hailing from New Zealand, actor KJ Apa is a million miles away from his onscreen alter-ego Archie Andrews.

Not only does Apa not have Archie’s flaming red hair in real life but he is nothing like the all-American jock.

Apa is a native of Auckland and started off his career in the soap Shortland Street in his home country before landing the part of Archie in Riverdale.

According to Celebrity Heights, Apa is 5ft 10in or 1.79m while J-14 reports the actor is 5ft 11in or 1.8m.

He appears to tower over his co-star Camila Mendes who portrays his onscreen girlfriend Veronica Lodge.

Mendes is thought to be around 5ft 2in or 1.5. which makes her much smaller in comparison.

Nonetheless the character is often in heels which makes up for some of the height difference.

Since starring in Riverdale in 2017, Apa has featured in a range of other projects.

He’s appeared in A Dog’s Purpose, The Hate U Give, The Last Summer, Altar Rock and I Still Believe.

According to IMDb, he will next be appearing in Songbird which is in post-production.

Apa has a fiercely strong work ethic, taking on projects during the two months Riverdale is on off-season.

Speaking to the LA Times earlier this year, he said: “All of us want to shoot movies.

“I think we’re all, in a way, craving to work on other things because we’re stuck in Vancouver on the show. Which is great — we all love working on the show. But we’re all craving something else to bite into.

“It’s awesome that we can do that too, because I don’t know if that’s common that a lot of TV actors can funnel into film that easily.

“I was always kind of scared of that, like, ‘Man, I hope I can shoot movies, because I don’t want to be pegged as Archie for the rest of my life.’”

While he admitted to feeling “burnt out” by continuously working with little rest, Apa admitted this was his “prime time”.

Apa explained: “This is what everyone’s telling me, at least, that this is my prime time and I need to keep working.

“They don’t tell me that I have to work, but I can hear it in their voices when they’re like, ‘This is a great opportunity.’

“I mean, they always want me to work, because they’re earning money off me too.”

With the continued global success of Riverdale, the gritty and subversive teen series is likely to remain on screens for some time yet.

However, Apa and his fellow co-stars appear to be carving out careers alongside their success in Riverdale.

For instance, Cole Sprouse has appeared in teen movie Five Feet Apart, while Lily Reinhart has starred in the Amazon movie Chemical Hearts and Hustlers, and Mendes has featured in Palm Springs and Dangerous Lies.
