KSI's potential next opponent Dillon Danis has informed his promoter Scott Coker that he plans to make his return to MMA next, as opposed to a boxing match

Danis has been out of action since 2019 with a slew of injuries, but has not stayed silent in the past three years, declaring war with major names from the worlds of MMA, boxing and social media. In a recent poll of who fans wanted to see KSI fight next, the American earned over a quarter-of-a-million votes, placing him second to Tyron Woodley in terms of interest.

However, it now appears that despite a verbal battle with KSI over the past few weeks that Danis will compete in MMA as soon as this year, instead of taking a boxing fight with the YouTuber. He is 2-0 in the cage as well as a renowned jiu-jitsu black belt, but has never boxed at any level before.

Speaking ahead of Bellator Dublin this weekend at the 3Arena, Coker told Mirror Fighting that there has been no contact between he and KSI or Logan Paul's teams about a prospective fight. The pair have both shown interest in facing Danis, and are expected to co-headline a card in America on January 14 under the Brit's Misfits Boxing banner.

"Dillon Danis hit us up and said he would like to fight in MMA as soon as possible," Coker explained. "So I don't know if that has any relation to [a possible KSI fight] or not, but this is the first I've heard about it. I'm not sure."

To get Danis signed up for a boxing match, Misfits would need to have gone through Bellator, who Coker confirms still have the New Yorker under contract. But they have been open to allowing fighters out for one-off bouts before, including Michael 'Venom' Page with BKFC.

"We're reasonable, right?" Coker added. "We let MVP fight in the bare-knuckle boxing championships because we thought it would be good for him and he wanted to do it. So it's not that we can't work it out with our fighters but the timing has to be right.

"And Dillon told me the other day via text message that he really wants to fight in MMA as soon as possible, maybe even before the end of the year. As far as in the future, I do believe that we have a lot of fights left for Dillon and he is under contract with Bellator."

And in a pointed message to KSI's team, Coker implored them to get in touch quickly if they do want to get involved with Danis. "Well, I don't think that they've been in touch," he said. "And I would give them some advice; give us a call and make sure there's no conflict of interest."
