Imagine being one of the most skilled pointguards of the last decade in the NBA and still having to play second fiddle to two different players. During the 2016 NBA finals that the Cleveland Cavaliers won against the Golden State Warriors, people often forget Kyrie Irving was the one who hit the winning shot of that final game. They prefer to value LeBron James' last-minute block rather than the winning shot.

Kyrie Irving seems like he's always wanted to be the ceter of attention, yet he still decided to play for the Brooklyn Nets alongside Kevin Durant and James Harden. Before anybody says he values the team above individual recognition, take a look at the way he views himself from the most recent 'Uninterrupted' episode he filmed with Idris Elba and Drew Barrymore.

Kyrie Irving, the artist

Although this is a short clip from the episode, it's pretty clear that Kyrie Irving always had a problem with playing seocnd fiddle with stars such as LeBron James or Kevin Durant. Many have defended him from any type of criticism but the man threw himself under the bus with this statement.

This is what he said: "Playing with 'Bron and playing with KD, within our culture they are true icons, but I had to fill in those shoes that were very uncomfortable for me. The tool I chose to use as my paintbrush is my basketball. When I describe myself as an artist it gives me an opportunity to do whatever I want."

After hearing at these thoughts, it's impossible to not think that Kyrie Irving didn't end up playing for the Lakers this summer because he is refusing to keep playing under LeBron James' shadow. At least with KD, he can share the spotlight a little bit more than he will ever do with one of the greatest to ever do it.
