Lab Manual

According to the APA, a Lab Manual should be cited and referenced like a book. When a book has no clear author, move the title in place of author. For more information, click here.

TEMPLATE (WITH AUTHOR):

Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year of publication). Title of lab manual in sentence case and italics: Capitalize first letter of subtitle. Publisher.

TEMPLATE (WITH NO AUTHOR):

Title of lab manual in sentence case and italics: Capitalize first letter of subtitle. (Year of publication). Publisher.

EXAMPLE:

Health and safety manual. (2008). University of British Columbia.

Notes:

• Author, A. A. = Author's surname followed by first and middle initials, when available.
• Title moves into the place of author when the book has no author/editor.

When the title of an item is in place of author, use a few words of the title in-text, or the whole title if it is short; additionally, it should be written in title case and with italics.

Examples of formatting an in-text citation for this item are outlined below:

Reference Information	Health and safety manual. (2008). University of British Columbia.
In-text Citation Guidelines	Examples
1. Parenthetical example Note: If you are paraphrasing from a lengthy document, also include page, paragraph or heading info.	Consider this a paraphrased sentence (Health and Safety Manual, 2008).
3. Narrative example	According to Health and Safety Manual (2008), "consider this a direct quote" (p. 11).
