Lady Vols Release Full 2022-23 Schedule With SEC Games - 247 Sports

The SEC has released the full women’s basketball schedule, and the Lady Vols will open and conclude conference play on the road with the debut on Dec. 29, 2022. The SEC home opener falls on New Year’s Day, one of four Sunday home games in conference play.

With the non-conference schedule released earlier this month and the dates now known for SEC matchups, Tennessee fans can now fill in their fall and winter schedules and make travel plans if needed. One longtime Lady Vol who lives in Oregon succinctly posted on Twitter: Travel agent mode engaged.

The earliest poll by ESPN has Tennessee ranked No. 4 in the country to start the season, and the Lady Vols are likely to be picked in preseason at No. 2 in the SEC behind defending conference and national champs South Carolina – crowns the Gamecocks will not turn loose of easily. With a core of returning players and proven transfers, Tennessee has generated considerable preseason excitement. Of course, what matters is the outcome on the court.

The Lady Vols will open SEC play at Florida – which has added Texas transfer Aliyah Matharu and Purdue transfer Ra Shaya Kyle – on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, and then host Alabama on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023. The highly anticipated matchup with South Carolina will be on Senior Day for Tennessee on Thursday, Feb. 23, in Knoxville. The regular season concludes at Kentucky on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The SEC tourney will be held March 1-5 in Greenville, South Carolina. In between, Tennessee has the gantlet of the SEC plus a step-out-of-conference visit by UConn on Thursday, Jan. 26. At least the Lady Vols don’t have three games in seven days the week of the UConn game and will host the matchup in 2023. The last two times the game was played in Hartford, the SEC had the Lady Vols playing on Monday and Sunday with the UConn trip in between.

After the UConn game, Tennessee has back-to-back Monday road games against LSU and Mississippi State with Ole Miss coming to Knoxville in between those games.

Tennessee’s two rotating opponents this season with home-and-away games are Florida and Mississippi State. The Gators will be in Knoxville on Jan. 19. Tennessee’s permanent opponent, which also means home-and-away games, is Vanderbilt with a trip to Nashville on Jan. 8 and the Commodores in Knoxville on Feb. 12. (The two-game permanent opponent will go away when the league expands to 16 teams in 2025 by adding Texas and Oklahoma, so Tennessee and Vanderbilt will play once in the regular season when that happens.)

Single game tickets will go on sale after season ticket sales conclude, usually in September or early October. Television and tip times for the games will be released later. Fans wanting to secure season tickets can do so HERE.

The SEC is a minefield with every matchup – eight of the league’s 14 teams played in the NCAA tourney and three others earned bids to the WNIT – and the target on Tennessee keeps getting bigger. The full schedule for all league teams is HERE. It should be an enticing SEC season. Don’t miss it.
